Senior Data Platform Engineer

// reliability · analytics infrastructure · engineering ownership

Cologne, Germany

Senior engineer with ~20 years building and operating production systems across web, e-commerce, legal tech, and now data engineering at scale. Built and shipped products end-to-end — from LAMP-era websites to distributed systems processing billions of events. Led teams, shaped technical direction, and stayed hands-on throughout.

Currently focused on data platform engineering: high-throughput pipelines, multi-DC reliability, and the observability that keeps it all running. Comfortable owning systems in production (build → run), aligning stakeholders, and making pragmatic trade-offs under real constraints.

In the age of AI and agentic systems, I'm interested in building robust data foundations and reliable infrastructure that make intelligent applications possible. I use AI-assisted development to shorten delivery cycles while improving testing, documentation, and operational safety.

Since 2015 my priority #1 is my daughter.
